Its that time of year again! It seems to come around so quickly. Here in the Cotswolds the festive lights and trees start appearing in late November just as the nights have started drawing in. Many of the local National Trust properties and other stately homes in the area go full out and decorate in the style of times gone by. Check out this link for some of the most spectacular. https://bit.ly/36ngTeJ
The Cotswolds generally seems to resemble those old chocolate box pictures of Christmas scenes with little dustings of snow or heavy frost causing the trees to twinkle in the dusky evening light.
There are many specialist shops to draw in the tourists even during these winter months – even a year round Christmas shop in Lechlade!
Broadway like other Cotswold villages stays open late during the run up to Christmas and you can do some shopping or browsing before popping in to one of the local pubs for some mulled wine.
Ratty’s Retreat is quite bijou so we tend to keep our decorations quite small too. There is no shortage of festive spirit though and our guests this year are returning for a second season so that must mean they enjoyed it.
If you have any photos of your own of the Cotswolds at Christmas you would like to post to our Facebook page we would love to see them.
