We fully understand that the world has changed since the outbreak began and we want you to know that we are doing everything necessary to ensure your safety and reassure you of the hygiene standards in our cottage.
At Ratty’s Retreat we oversee the changeovers personally and have always tried to maintain the highest level of cleanliness. While we have been closed we have carefully followed the guidelines that have been emerging and have taken actions to greatly reduce the risk of contracting the virus from a previous guest or from contact with us.
We have modified some of our practices and some of the facilities to minimise the risk of contracting or spreading the virus. We will continue to revise measures in accordance with new guidelines and best practices.
The major changes include:-
Longer gaps between guests departing and arriving to limit the potential presence of any virus residue. When we initially re-open we will implement a 3 day gap. This will be subject to change.
Along with the linen, all cushions will be removed and replaced each changeover. This is the same for mattress protectors, duvets, throws, pillows, towels, tea towels, oven gloves and ironing board cover. The soft furnishings around the half-tester bed will undergo a steam clean on each changeover.
Check in and new bookings
We already have a contact-less check-in and key storage facility in place and each guest is made aware of where and how to access the key once they have booked.
New bookings will require you to ensure you follow national guidelines before coming to Ratty’s Retreat and tell us if you believe you have been in contact with someone with Covid-19 and if so to follow government guidelines regarding self-isolation. If you become ill during your stay we require that we are informed immediately and that you follow government guidelines. Should that mean cutting your stay short, no refund will be due as we would not be able to re-let the cottage and we do, as always, encourage you to take out holiday insurance to cover other circumstances that may impact your stay. Please remember to ensure that your reservation meets current government travel restrictions.
Normally, guests have access to the communal gardens. We ask you not to use these areas for the time being but limit yourselves to the private garden at the front of Ratty’s Retreat and to be attentive to other visitors within Lower Farm Cottages when walking to and from your vehicle and respect social distancing.
During the pandemic we have removed books and other leaflets and maps that would normally be available for you to use or borrow during your stay to make it easier to ensure the cottage is thoroughly and hygienically cleaned. We will provide guests with online links to all the important and useful information before arrival.
Should it be necessary for us to attend to a vital maintenance issue during your stay we will find a way of doing this to make it safe. We will wear a mask and use disposable gloves and if it cannot be dealt with while you are out we will ask you to stay in one area of the cottage while the work is dealt with.
For stays in excess of 8 nights, we will arrange a convenient time to come and provide clean linen and towels but for everyone’s protection we will not offer a mid stay cleaning service for the time being.
We ask you to dispose of all and any rubbish by either placing it in rubbish bags securely and disposing of it in the appropriate communal bins as directed or alternatively taking it away with you. Please do not under any circumstance leave rubbish in the cottage at the end of your stay.

We are contactable throughout your stay as usual by telephone and email, but also now by WhatsApp.
We really hope that you will be reassured by the actions we have taken and, that despite the situation, you will find the same enjoyment of both the property and the wider area that you have access to in the Cotswolds.
This year has been difficult for all travel businesses both small and large and as a small family business we really appreciate all bookings that are made direct as they help to support us instead of the larger Online Travel Agents.
